The short answer: professional event videography in NYC starts around $1,300 for a polished 60-second recap video and $700 for a set of two vertical social reels. Broader market rates run $1,500–$3,000 for half-day coverage and $2,500–$5,000+ for a full day with a dedicated videographer. The biggest lever on price isn't hours on site — it's how many finished deliverables you actually need.

Event photography pricing is well documented — I've published my full photo rates here — but video quotes confuse people because two videographers quoting "event coverage" are often selling completely different products. Here's how to read the quotes.

What you're actually buying: deliverables, not hours

  • Recap / highlight video (up to 60s): $1,300 — my rate, delivered edited with music, titles, and color. NYC market range: $1,000–$2,500.

  • Vertical social reels (set of 2, up to 30s): $700 — the format that actually performs on LinkedIn and Instagram after the event.

  • Keynote or panel capture: clean multi-angle recording of a session, priced by session length — typically $1,500–$3,500 in the NYC market depending on camera count.

  • Attendee/speaker soundbites: short on-site interviews that become testimonial and promo content — usually bundled into half-day or full-day coverage.

A quote that says "8 hours of coverage" without naming deliverables is a red flag: raw footage is not content. Ask exactly what arrives in your inbox, edited, and when.

What drives the price up (and when it's worth it)

Multiple cameras matter for panels and keynotes — one camera on a 45-minute talk is a very long single shot. A second shooter matters when sessions run simultaneously. Fast turnaround matters more than people budget for: a recap delivered while attendees are still posting about the event outperforms a cinematic cut delivered three weeks later. And usage scope — paid ads vs. organic social — can affect licensing on some quotes; mine include full commercial usage.

The photo + video bundle math

If you're already booking photography ($800 for a focused 2-hour shoot up to $4,500 for full-day coverage), adding video through the same team is significantly cheaper than booking two vendors: one point of contact, one brief, shared knowledge of the run-of-show, and no two crews tripping over each other in front of the stage. It's exactly why I offer combined event photo + video coverage — most corporate clients need both, and the second discipline costs less than the first.

A realistic budget by event type

  • Networking evening or panel (2–3 hours): photos plus a set of social reels — roughly $1,500–$2,500 total.

  • Half-day summit or launch: photos, a 60-second recap, and reels — roughly $3,000–$4,500.

  • Full-day conference: full photo coverage, recap video, session capture, and reels — $5,000–$8,000+ depending on session count.

FAQ

How fast can the recap video be delivered?
Social reels can turn around within days while the event is still fresh; recap videos typically land within a week. If you need same-week delivery for a follow-up email, say so upfront — it's a scheduling question, not a technical one.

Do we get the raw footage?
Ask — policies vary. I'll hand over selects on request, but raw footage without an editor is rarely useful; budget for finished deliverables instead.

Can one person shoot both photo and video?
For small events, yes — a hybrid shooter covers both adequately. For anything with a stage moment, separate attention (or one operator with a deliberate plan) protects both formats. This is worth one direct question to your vendor.

How far in advance should we book?
Three to four weeks for NYC event dates; further out for peak fall and spring conference season.
